How to Search the Chattooga County Court Docket
Look first at whatever paper started the case. The notice, citation, pleading, or order names a court, and that court is where the Chattooga County court docket search begins. No single public database covers every court here. Superior and State filings carry one set of jurisdiction labels, while Probate, Magistrate, Juvenile, and city municipal records use their own. Cases also travel. Something that began in a city or limited court can end up on a county or appellate docket, so the office where an event started is not always the office holding the current record.
Superior and State cases start with Georgia Courts E-Access. Its Chattooga links route to PeachCourt, which requires an account. The clerk's own Case Search link opens an Icon Case Management login rather than a guest lookup. Before you begin, gather a few things. Note the court name, the approximate filing year, and the case number if you have it. Add the party or caption, and the event or document you need.
- Identify the court and record type. Separate felony, civil, domestic, juvenile, probate, magistrate, and city matters before searching.
- Use the official route for that court. Choose Chattooga State or Chattooga Superior through Georgia E-Access, or open the responsible city, Probate, or Magistrate office.
- Register or sign in when PeachCourt requires it. Registration is free, but document viewing or requesting can carry vendor charges.
- Compare the result with the notice or order. A calendar setting is a scheduling aid, not proof that a pleading, judgment, or disposition is in the file.
- Ask the responsible clerk for a public copy or confirmation when the entry is missing, restricted, or behind a login. Use the exact court and a narrow date range.
A login screen is a wall, not an answer. It tells you the online docket route ends there, not that the court record itself is missing. The Chattooga County clerk still takes questions at the counter, over the phone, and by mailed request, and the Georgia Open Records process stands on its own as another way in.
PeachCourt and the Chattooga Docket Search
PeachCourt is the account-based route into a Chattooga County court docket search, and both local courts use it. The Georgia Courts E-Access to Court Records page lists Chattooga State Court and Chattooga Superior Court among its PeachCourt routes. A companion Georgia e-file chart marks PeachCourt as mandatory for both courts. Read the two pages as a pair. The statewide site is a directory and redirect. The vendor itself is where a user reaches the court search and the document controls.
Registration takes a few minutes. The PeachCourt sign-up form asks for the basics. It wants last name, first name, email and a confirmation, password and a confirmation, a secret question with its answer, reCAPTCHA, and agreement to the terms. Attorneys and non-attorneys can both register. An account still does not make every image free or every court file visible. Vendor help explains document viewing, requests, payments, and access states for sealed, restricted, adoption, or otherwise unavailable material.
| Surface | Fields or control | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Georgia E-Access | Court links, no case fields | Routes Chattooga State and Superior users to PeachCourt. |
| PeachCourt registration | Name, email, password, secret question, reCAPTCHA, terms | Creates a free account; it is not a guarantee of document access. |
| PeachCourt login | Email, password, password recovery, registration link | Account gate appears before the court search inspected in research. |
| Chattooga Clerk Case Search | UserID, UserPassword, Remember User Name, Log In | Icon Case Management credentials are required; no guest fields were visible. |
Before you pay anything, get the price straight. PeachCourt's vendor terms list a $2 e-access or document fee, $0.50 per page, and a convenience charge of 3.5% plus $0.30, with receipts emailed within two business days. Treat those numbers as vendor terms. They are not a fee schedule set by the Chattooga clerk, and they can change, so ask which cost applies before you request a document.
One more caution. A provider account may open a case index for a Chattooga docket search. That does not mean every filing image is there. Juvenile records and sealed pages may stay out of reach no matter what account you hold.
What a Court Docket Shows
Neither the Icon system nor PeachCourt let an anonymous visitor see a live Chattooga criminal or civil register. Both demand credentials. So think of the field list below as a checklist of what a docket usually holds, not a promise that every result shows every field. Expect the court, a case identifier, the filing date, the case type, the parties, events and settings, orders, and the disposition. A calendar entry often shows less.
Read any court record in layers. The docket layer carries the case number and the event history; the filing images sit behind it; and a judgment, sentence, dismissal, or appeal entry records an outcome that came later. A missing View button is its own puzzle. It can mean restricted, sealed, unavailable, not yet scanned, or request-only, and it never explains which one applies.
| Case number | Unique court identifier. Chattooga's local format was not exposed without credentials. |
|---|---|
| Court and county | Shows whether the matter belongs to Superior, State, Juvenile, Probate, Magistrate, municipal, or another court. |
| Parties and attorneys | Role labels may appear when public, but no Chattooga sample was copied and protected names should not be republished. |
| Entries and filings | May include a complaint, accusation, motion, answer, notice, order, judgment, or request status. |
| Settings | Date, event type, and judge initials may appear in a calendar; the monthly LMJC matrix did not show party names or case numbers. |
| Disposition | Final outcome or status event, if entered and publicly displayed. A calendar cancellation is not a disposition. |
Chattooga Docket Fields and Limits
Some docket words carry a local meaning here. The Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit calendar prints headings like "Crim Cal Call," "Motions," "Crim Status," "Crim Jury Trials," "Civil Jury Trials/GJ," "Circuit/CSRU," "Drug Court," "PAC," and "WC." The public PDF spells out judge initials B, A, T, and H, yet it leaves several setting abbreviations unexplained. GJ, CSRU, HC, DA/NJ/Arr, and PAC are best confirmed with the circuit itself. Don't treat them as statewide codes.
- Calendar call
- A scheduled call of cases used to address readiness or settings. “Crim Cal Call” is the local printed label.
- Setting
- A scheduled court event. It is not always a trial and may be moved by an order, plea, cancellation, or reset.
- Disposition
- The recorded outcome of a matter, such as a judgment, dismissal, conviction, acquittal, or other final action.
- Restricted
- An access state that limits a document or record. The reason must come from the custodian, rule, or court order.
- Certiorari
- A review route from a lower or municipal court to a higher court when the controlling law permits it.
In Chattooga County, a blocked screen and a missing record are two different things. A login prompt at the clerk portal means one thing: public access requires credentials. It does not show that the county lacks an index, a paper file, or a way to request copies. When your docket search stalls, take notes. Write down the date and the URL. Add the court you selected and the exact error or prompt you saw. That note helps the clerk's staff help you.
Which Courts Keep Dockets
Each court in Chattooga County keeps its own docket, split by jurisdiction. Chattooga Superior Court sits in the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit. It handles felony trials. It also takes a wide range of civil matters, domestic relations, and review of errors from the limited courts. Chattooga State Court covers misdemeanors within county limits. It also handles traffic matters, warrants, preliminary hearings, and civil cases not reserved for Superior Court. The remaining courts are not just smaller copies of the same docket.
| Court or office | Docket covers | Best starting route |
|---|---|---|
| Chattooga Superior Court | Felonies, broad civil and domestic matters, review of limited courts | Georgia E-Access, PeachCourt, or Kim Windle James's clerk office |
| Chattooga State Court | Misdemeanors, traffic, warrants, preliminary hearings, county-limited civil | Georgia E-Access, PeachCourt, or the State/Superior/Juvenile clerk office |
| Magistrate Court | Claims of $15,000 or less, dispossessory and distress matters, warrants, minor offenses | Magistrate Court at its separate Cox Street office |
| Probate Court | Wills, estates, guardianships, licenses, and involuntary-treatment matters | Probate Court counter and phone |
| Juvenile and city courts | Juvenile matters, city traffic, and local ordinance violations | Juvenile clerk, or the issuing city clerk and municipal portal |
A city ticket does not land in the State Court docket by default. A Magistrate civil claim is not automatically a Superior Court civil filing. The court named on your notice controls where the docket search starts, though a transfer or appeal can later link the two cases.
Chattooga Court Offices and Dockets
Local court work in the county centers on two street addresses. The unified Superior, State, and Juvenile clerk office shares 10035 Commerce Street in Summerville. It shares the building with Probate Court. Magistrate Court sits at 120 Cox Street, Suite C. Probate posts weekday hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., while Magistrate posts 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sharing a building does not mean sharing jurisdiction, hours, or a copy process. The primary clerk page lists no separate schedule for the records window. Plan around the posted office hours rather than a dedicated docket counter.

Summerville, GA 30747
706-857-0706
Chattooga County court dockets are handled at the county courthouse in Summerville, and Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit's official image source shows the courthouse itself.
Treat the location as a starting point only. Chattooga County has not posted a public terminal, room number, parking plan, security policy, or separate Superior and State counter hours, so call the clerk first.
Finding Court Dates and Settings
A hearing date can surface in several places. It may appear in a notice, a signed order, a case event, a trial list, or a circuit calendar. Start with the case-specific source. Then check it against the right Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit calendar or trial-list page. When a monthly PDF and a later notice disagree, the latest court instruction wins. Remember that a setting can still move. A continuance, plea, cancellation, reassignment, or signed order can change it.
Docket flow: Notice or order › case event › trial list or circuit calendar › clerk confirmation
The Chattooga County court calendar helps you read the public schedule. Its monthly matrix stops short of party names. Courtrooms, case numbers, and document links are left out too. Confirm any circuit setting with the responsible clerk or circuit administrator before you drive over. Under current circuit instructions, interpreter requests go in ten business days before a hearing.
Chattooga Calendar Updates
The Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit's 2026 calendar is a dated snapshot. It is not a live case index. The twelve-page PDF carries an August 6, 2026 update date. Each month cell holds county labels, setting names, and judge initials. August entries cover many settings. They range from Chattooga Criminal Calendar Call and Motions to Criminal Status, Civil Jury Trials/GJ, Criminal Jury Trials, Circuit/CSRU, Drug Court, and PAC. Holiday, cancellation, and time notes appear when the circuit supplies them.
Scheduling lives on more than one circuit surface. The Chattooga page links a second-week trial list. It also links a Judge Hise calendar for specially set civil hearings, a civil jury trial calendar, a PAC calendar, Drug Court, Wellness Court, an interpreter request form, and probate preparation material. The separate Circuit Calendars page and Standing Orders page add procedural context. Neither one replaces the case register, so treat them as companions to it.
A current notice can rewrite an older calendar cell. One Wellness Court cancellation covered August 21, 2026. A Criminal Week plea cutoff fell on August 6, 2026. When you track a setting, save both the PDF date and the notice date. Keep in mind that a cancellation is only a calendar event. It is not proof a case was dismissed.
Note: Save the calendar update date with any setting. A later circuit notice can change a month cell without changing the older PDF.
Public Access to Dockets
Georgia court files are public by default. Access still bends to the court, the record type, and any limiting order. Uniform Superior Court Rule 21 spells out public inspection. It also covers the findings required to limit it. Rule 21.6 covers protected identifiers. It requires separate handling of protected pages. One caution: a public docket entry does not make every attachment public.
Key access rules:
Uniform Superior Court Rule 21 keeps court files open unless law or a proper limitation order protects a portion.
O.C.G.A. §§ 50-18-70 through 50-18-73 govern Georgia Open Records requests, inspection, copying, timing, and exemptions.
Georgia JDEX access rules protect juvenile information and do not create a public name-search route.
GBI record restriction guidance concerns GCIC criminal-history records and does not automatically erase a court docket.
Some material stays closed no matter what. Juvenile, adoption, protected-identifier, sealed, and other confidential records may be withheld or redacted. If a record is denied, ask for the specific rule or order behind the decision. An Open Records request cannot force that material out. Another law keeps it confidential, and the request has no power over it.
Chattooga Docket Access Requests
Send each request to the office that actually maintains the record. Kim Windle James's office handles Superior, State, and Juvenile clerk records. Probate Court keeps its own files. Magistrate Court runs a separate office. An incorporated city holds its own municipal traffic and ordinance records. The Georgia Attorney General's Open Records request form asks for the date, recipient, address, fax or email, requested records, and requester contact information.
Keep the request narrow. Name the court, plus the case number if known. Add approximate filing or event dates, document type, preferred format, and whether you want a plain or certified copy. Ask for a cost estimate before charges pass the threshold in the Attorney General's guide. If access is denied, request the exemption cited plus any releasable portion after redaction.
The local pages publish no certified-copy fee schedule for the primary clerk. There is also no public terminal location, ID rule, mail procedure, or records-window hours listed. Call 706-857-0706 before mailing or visiting. Never import a fee from another Georgia county.
The Clerk and Docket Records
The official Chattooga Clerk site names Kim Windle James as the current clerk. Her office identifies itself as Superior, State, and Juvenile. It posts a Commerce Street address, phone, and fax. Its Case Search button leads to Icon Case Management Version 5.1.3.1. There the public screen asks for UserID and UserPassword. The clerk's Forms page links legal forms, family-law material, notary, passport, protective-order, and UCC resources. It is not a docket database.
Dockets here live across two systems, a local technology fact worth knowing. The county site works as a service index and legacy login. Georgia Courts routes State and Superior e-access and mandatory e-filing through PeachCourt. A broken local page or an ODBC error is not a disposition, closure, or denial. Treat the court, the clerk, and current circuit notices as the authoritative chain.

Note: The local site posts no separate Superior or State records-desk schedule. Confirm hours and copy steps with the clerk before any in-person request.
Chattooga Traffic Docket Paths
Where a Chattooga County traffic ticket goes depends on which court issued it. Georgia's Locate or Pay Traffic Ticket page makes that clear. The issuing court controls the record. So State Court tickets and city municipal tickets live in separate places. No single countywide docket search covers both. The DDS court-reporting files add up numbers across courts. They are aggregate reports, not a docket index and not a final disposition for any one person.
| Traffic stream | Starting route | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Chattooga State or Superior | Georgia E-Access, PeachCourt, or county clerk | Account or clerk access; local public traffic search was not observed. |
| Summerville | Government Window FAQ and Court Clerk Paula Womack | Payment is disabled on court or missed dates; tickets may take more than two weeks to appear. |
| Trion | Government Window and Town Municipal Court | Direct form was Cloudflare-blocked; field and result behavior were not observed. |
| Lyerly | Government Portal ticket search | Observed fields are account last name and account number, not a full docket viewer. |
| Menlo | Issuing city clerk | No current official portal was located in the source sweep. |
One more split matters. The Rome federal bankruptcy court and the Northern District court run a federal docket stream, which is no substitute for a Chattooga traffic record. When you note what you searched, write down the issuing court and the office that actually holds the record.
Court Dockets by City in Chattooga County
The 2020 Census incorporated-place table counts four incorporated places in Chattooga County. So four city pages exist here: Summerville, Trion, Menlo, and Lyerly. That vintage puts Summerville at 4,435 residents. Trion comes in at 1,960, Menlo at 480, and Lyerly at 454. For a city ticket, start with the municipal court or its vendor that issued it. Assuming one countywide lookup will lead you wrong.
Summerville Court Docket
2020 population 4,435 · Government Window FAQ and clerk fallback
Trion Court Docket
2020 population 1,960 · Municipal Court ordinance and ticket portal
Menlo Court Docket
2020 population 480 · City clerk route where no current portal was located
Lyerly Court Docket
2020 population 454 · Account last name and number ticket search
Municipal dockets usually cover traffic and ordinance violations. A felony charge, a broad civil matter, a probate file, or a State Court case that began inside a city still belongs to the county or state court route. The city cards below keep that line drawn. No payment screen should be mistaken for a complete docket.
Chattooga Specialty Docket Routes
The Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit pages link Drug Court, Wellness Court, a PAC calendar, interpreter requests, and probate preparation. The 2026 calendar places Drug Court under Judge Thompson. Wellness Court sits under Judge Arnt, and PAC under Judge House, in its published initials legend. Those labels mark a setting stream. They are not a public participant list. Never infer a person's treatment, diagnosis, or case status from a program calendar.
Federal cases run on a separate track entirely. The Northern District of Georgia serves Chattooga through the Rome Division. The Eleventh Circuit hears federal appeals. The Rome bankruptcy court lists Chattooga among its service area. Federal docket searches use PACER or CM/ECF, not the county clerk or PeachCourt.
The official Northern District of Georgia home page shows the court's divisions and judges. That makes it a handy jurisdiction marker when a federal docket question comes up.
The bankruptcy Rome page supplies a second federal context for Chattooga County.
CourtListener or RECAP may mirror federal filings, but PACER stays the official route when you need precision. As you search, preserve the court level, the access date, and whether what you opened was a live docket, an aggregate report, or only a calendar. Note: FY92, August 2025, and August 2026 figures describe different systems and dates; never combine them as a current case count.

Superior, State, and Juvenile clerk records, along with the separate Probate Court docket, are kept at the Chattooga County Courthouse, 10035 Commerce Street, in Summerville. Magistrate Court is a different building, 120 Cox Street, Suite C, so a warrant, preliminary matter, or small civil claim starts at Cox Street rather than the Commerce Street clerk's counter.
