Find Chattooga Civil Dockets

Start your search with the right court. Chattooga County civil court dockets live in several offices at once, since complaints, answers, motions, judgments, and later review events are split across Superior, State, Magistrate, Probate, and municipal routes. Superior and State civil e-access runs through PeachCourt, while Magistrate and Probate keep their own contact paths. One caution helps early: a calendar entry can show a hearing date while the pleading behind it stays out of view. Before any request, write down the court, the case type, the filing period, and the exact document you need.

Chattooga Civil Search Route

Georgia's e-access directory separates the route from the result. Chattooga Superior and State links point to PeachCourt. The e-file chart marks PeachCourt mandatory for both courts. Registering takes a name, email, password, secret question and answer, reCAPTCHA, and agreement to the terms. Non-attorneys can register too. Still, a free account does not promise a free image or access to every case. The clerk's public Case Search screen shows only UserID, UserPassword, Remember User Name, and Log In. Nothing else appears there. Without credentials there is no case-number field, party field, result table, document button, refresh schedule, or fee notice. So call that wall what it is. A civil search stopped at the login is credential-gated, not proof the case is missing.

A court-file request can ask whether a record sits online, at the counter, or behind a clerk copy process. Do not ask the wrong office to produce a Probate or Magistrate file.

What a Civil Docket Shows

The docket layer is the chronological register of a civil matter. It can point to the filing that starts the case, service or return events, responsive pleadings, motions, settings, orders, judgment, dismissal, settlement marker, appeal, or certiorari. A civil calendar entry is narrower. It may show a date and hearing type. The pleadings stay behind a document control or clerk request.

Case numberUnique identifier. Chattooga's format was not exposed through the tested public surfaces.
Court and subtypeShows Superior, State, Magistrate, Probate, or municipal jurisdiction and the kind of civil matter.
Initiating paperComplaint, petition, dispossessory filing, estate petition, or other opening document, if publicly displayed.
Service and responseReturn, answer, responsive pleading, or notice can mark how the case moved after filing.
Motions and settingsHearing type, date, judge, and later reset or continuance event when entered.
Judgment and reviewFinal order, dismissal, judgment, appeal, or certiorari event, subject to access limits.

Not every page in a family-law or protective-order file is open to the public. Some sheets are redacted or sealed outright. Finding the case in the Chattooga County civil docket index only means the case exists; it does not mean each attachment will be shown in full. When an image is hidden, ask the clerk which portion the law lets you see.

Chattooga Civil Docket Fields

No private civil sample is published. So party names, amounts, attorney blocks, date formats, and local disposition codes stay out of view. The field inventory still matters when you call a clerk. Say whether you need a docket sheet, a pleading, a signed order, a judgment, an exhibit, or a complete file. That distinction helps the clerk locate the right layer.

Return of service
A docket event showing how notice or process was returned, when the court makes it public.
Setting
A scheduled civil hearing, trial, motion, or conference. It can change without changing the filing date.
Continuance
A court-approved move of a setting to a later time or date.
Final order
A signed ruling that resolves some or all of the matter. It is different from a calendar cell.
Certiorari
A review path from a lower or municipal court to Superior Court when authorized.

The Clerk Forms page gathers legal forms and family-law information in one place. Treat it as a library, not a docket search tool. The page itself warns that forms may be outdated. It also suggests checking the controlling law. And it suggests getting counsel where the situation calls for it.

Types of Civil Cases on the Docket

Jurisdiction sets both the search path and the records custodian. A divorce or broad title matter should not be searched as a Magistrate small claim. A dispossessory filing should not be assumed to sit in the Superior/State PeachCourt route. Probate estates and guardianships belong to a separate office. The street address may be shared.

Chattooga Magistrate Court's documented civil threshold is $15,000 or less. No general State Court dollar threshold is published, so a search instruction should not invent one.

Chattooga Magistrate Civil Claims

Magistrate Court is its own civil route for claims of $15,000 or less, dispossessory and distress-warrant matters, and other listed proceedings. Its official county page lists 120 Cox Street, Suite C, Summerville, phone 706-857-0711, and weekday hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays. The page offers jurisdiction and contact information, not a public online case database. When you need a Magistrate record, name the court in the request and state whether you want the filing, the service return, the hearing result, the judgment, or a copy of the full file. If a lower-court order later moves by certiorari, the later Superior docket is a different record stream. The Trion and Lyerly municipal materials also describe certiorari routes, but a city matter is not automatically a Magistrate matter.

Settings and Hearings on Civil Dockets

Civil settings for Chattooga County surface in several places at once. The Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit posts a 2026 calendar, a Chattooga trial list, and a Judge Hise calendar for specially set civil hearings. It also posts a civil jury trial calendar, circuit calendars, and standing orders. Each month the matrix lays out the county. It gives the date, the event label, and the judge's initials. It will not give you every case number or party, though. Treat it as a map of the court docket's schedule, not the docket itself.

Setting flow: Filing or answer › service and response › motion or status setting › trial list or jury setting › order or judgment

When a calendar cell and a notice disagree, trust three things in order: the signed order, the most recent case-specific docket event, and confirmation from the clerk. A reset or continuance moves a date. It does not decide the merits of the case. A civil trial list is a scheduling aid only, never the full court record.

DateCalendar or order date; the most recent case-specific setting controls.
Event labelMotion, status, civil jury trial, or another printed setting type.
JudgeInitials may appear in the LMJC matrix; the monthly sample did not show party names.
CourtroomNot shown in the inspected monthly matrix; confirm from the notice, order, or clerk.

Chattooga Civil Calendar Layer

The 2026 LMJC PDF carries an update date of August 6, 2026. For the month shown, it lists Chattooga Civil Jury Trials/GJ on August 10, plus circuit and motions settings. Abbreviations like "GJ" and "CSRU" appear on the calendar without a full public legend. Write the label exactly as printed instead of guessing what it means. Newer notices can amend that PDF. Standing Orders may supply the procedural rule behind a setting, and the trial list narrows a county-wide calendar down to a trial block. A cancellation or reassignment can change what you should actually do on a given day. So keep each source's own date in view whenever you compare them. The scheduling layer helps with planning a records request or confirming a hearing block exists. It does not show whether a pleading, order, settlement, or judgment is fully open. That answer lives in the case file itself.

Public Access to Civil Dockets

Uniform Superior Court Rule 21 spells out how the public reaches court files and how part of a file can be limited. Rule 21.6 governs protected identifiers. The Georgia Open Records Act adds a request framework, explained in the Attorney General's guide. Still, a court-file request must go to the clerk who holds the case. Sealing, juvenile, domestic, and protected-record rules apply along the way.

Civil access reminders:

Public calendar visibility does not make the underlying pleading or order public in full.

A Probate or Magistrate file should not be assumed to appear in the Superior or State PeachCourt route.

Ask for the exact exemption, order, or protected portion when a document is withheld.

The local offices publish no copy-fee schedule, certified-copy charge, mail method, turnaround time, or public terminal location. Ask the clerk to verify each item. Never borrow a fee from another Georgia county.

Chattooga Civil Records Requests

Send a civil records request to the office that actually holds the case. Superior and State filings sit with Kim Windle James's unified office at 10035 Commerce Street, Summerville, Georgia 30747, phone 706-857-0706. Probate and Magistrate run separate offices. The Attorney General's request form asks for the date, recipient, recipient address, fax, email, the records you want, the submitter, and your own contact details. Be precise in the request. Give the case number if you have it, a narrow filing or hearing date range, the document type, and whether you want a plain or certified copy. Ask whether PeachCourt, in-person inspection, or clerk copy service is the right channel. Get a cost estimate before ordering. If a document is protected, request whatever redacted remainder can be released. Note: "public" is a rule about lawful access. It is not a promise that every scan or family-law attachment can be viewed online.

Chattooga Civil Federal Layer

A few civil cases with Chattooga County ties land in federal court rather than a county civil docket. The Northern District of Georgia and federal bankruptcy court handle those. Rome hosts the division serving this region. PACER and CM/ECF are the systems for federal case lookup, and CourtListener or RECAP can mirror some filings. Even so, a federal docket stays a separate stream from Superior, State, Magistrate, and Probate records.

Ready an account through the PACER home page. The published rate is $0.10 per page. Most documents cap at $3. A $30 quarterly waiver also applies. Note that a temporary $0.12 rate and a $40 waiver threshold begin January 1, 2027, per the official notice, so confirm the rate before you search.

The official PACER source lays out these fees on its own page.
